Day 2 on the Finke track; pre-running the rider!
This morning we headed off to the start of the Finke Desert racetrack, unloaded our rider set him up and sent him off southwards on the track. We also headed down south on the road in the vehicle for about 16 1/2 km where we pulled off the track. We all met up and stopped and made morning tea and biscuits. Roy had a short break and fueled up the bike. Then he headed off south again. He will go for about half an hour and then turn around and ride back on the road as you can’t travel north on the track until after midday. Meanwhile we waited for him here at the 16 km mark and hope that all goes well. After one and a half hours Roy returned to our campsite. All successful, had a good ride.
Perfect day out in the desert 25° no wind no cloud fabulous. We had found a spot that turned out to be quite popular. It was a big encampment there with a lot of tents and swags all set up for the race. After we’d had some lunch we all poured back into the car and headed back into Alice springs.
